A 15-year-old from Hamilton was arrested on September 19 after making threatening messages via an instant messaging platform to a religious institution in Kingston and a secondary school in Hamilton. Kingston Police were notified on September 12, prompting a joint investigation involving the RCMP, OPP, and Waterloo Regional Police. The teen was charged with hate-motivated threats against the religious institution and threats against the school. Authorities confirmed no ongoing threat to either community and no further arrests are expected. The youth was remanded into custody following a bail hearing in Kingston.
