Wiltshire’s Chalkland Revival project, funded with £152,028, aims to boost biodiversity and support sustainable farming across 40,000 hectares until March 2026.
The Wiltshire Wildlife Trust has launched the Chalkland Revival project, funded with £152,028 from the North Wessex Downs National Landscape’s Farming in a Protected Landscape programme.
Spanning over 40,000 hectares across five farm clusters, the initiative aims to boost biodiversity and support sustainable farming.
Efforts include protecting northern lapwing nests with electric fencing, creating brood cover strips, developing a deer management plan with the British Deer Society, and mapping historic 'ghost ponds' to restore wetlands.
The project, running until March 2026, is backed by partners including the Soil Association and the Wiltshire and Swindon Biological Records Centre.
