Supreme Court to hear bail pleas of four former JNU students in 2020 Delhi riots case.
The Supreme Court will hear bail pleas of former JNU students Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, Meeran Haider, and Gulfisha Fatima, charged under UAPA in connection with the 2020 Delhi riots conspiracy case.
The hearing, postponed from September 12 due to late case file delivery, is now set for Friday before Justices Aravind Kumar and N V Anjaria.
The Delhi High Court previously denied bail, citing serious prima facie evidence and alleged communal speeches by some accused.
Delhi Police argue the riots were a premeditated conspiracy, with the accused playing active roles in orchestrating violence.
The court’s decision will determine whether the four can be released pending trial.
