Statkraft has agreed to sell its 150 MW Tidong hydropower project in Himachal Pradesh, India, to JSW Energy’s subsidiary JSW Neo Energy for Rs 1,728 crore.
The run-of-river plant, expected to be operational by 2026, is part of Statkraft’s broader divestment of its India portfolio, focusing on Europe and South America.
The acquisition, pending regulatory and lender approvals by January 15, 2026, will boost JSW Energy’s generation capacity to 30.5 GW, including 1.8 GW in hydropower, supporting its goal of 30 GW renewable capacity and 40 GWh storage by FY30.
JSW Energy’s shares rose 3% following the announcement, reflecting market confidence in its growth strategy.
