SSE Airtricity raises Irish electricity prices by 9.5% from Oct. 20, adding €150 yearly to average bills.
SSE Airtricity has announced a 9.5% increase in its standard variable electricity prices for Irish customers, effective October 20, adding about €150 annually to the average household bill.
This marks the second price rise in 2025, following a 10.5% increase in April, resulting in a 20% overall rise in bills for the company’s 460,000 customers compared to last year.
The increase is attributed to higher network and system operator charges, ongoing wholesale energy volatility, and rising business costs.
The move comes amid Ireland’s ongoing cost-of-living crisis, with other energy providers also raising rates.
While the Irish energy regulator found no evidence of profiteering, consumers are encouraged to review their options and consider switching suppliers to manage rising costs.
