Punjab, Pakistan, has launched its first co-ablation cancer treatment center at Mayo Hospital in Lahore, making it the first in the country and not currently available in India.
The advanced technology, imported after the Chief Minister’s visit to China, destroys cancer cells by freezing them to -198°C with liquid nitrogen and then heating them to 83°C, targeting liver, lung, and breast cancers.
Two successful surgeries have already been performed, with treatment costing about Rs1.6 million per patient.
The Chief Minister has ordered five additional machines and plans to train master trainers to build local expertise, aiming to expand care to other cancer types and offer free treatment for underprivileged patients.
