NV Energy is proposing an additional $32.6 million in refunds, including interest, to over 42,000 customers affected by a rate misclassification error that incorrectly billed multi-family residences as single-family homes. The error, which dates back to June 23, 2017, led to overcharges for both current and former customers. The company has already issued $5.4 million in refunds and will hire a third-party firm to review corrective actions. The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada must approve the proposal before refunds are issued, with bill credits for active accounts and checks mailed to former customers. NV Energy will not seek reimbursement from those who underpaid due to the error.
