New Zealand awards $1.88B contract to build Dunedin’s new hospital, opening in 2031.
The New Zealand government has signed a contract with CPB Contractors to build Dunedin Hospital’s new inpatient building, the country’s largest health infrastructure project at $1.88 billion.
Construction, resumed in July at the former Cadbury site, will create over 900 full-time jobs and contribute around $100 million annually to Dunedin’s economy at peak activity.
The inpatient building is now scheduled to open to patients in 2031, with practical completion set for 2030.
A Crown manager will oversee the project to ensure timely, budget-compliant delivery.
The new hospital aims to provide modern, fit-for-purpose care for the region.
