Microsoft is building two AI data centers in Wisconsin, investing $7B, with the first opening in 2026.
Microsoft is investing over $7 billion in two massive AI data centers in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, with the first set to open in early 2026 and become the world’s most powerful AI data center, using NVIDIA chips and a closed-loop cooling system to reduce water use.
The expansion, including a $4 billion second facility, is expected to create nearly 10,000 jobs and support workforce training through partnerships with local colleges.
The company is also building a 250MW solar farm to offset energy use, while facing environmental concerns over water and electricity demands.
