India’s Steel Mahakumbh launched in Mumbai, advancing green steel and hydrogen goals with major investments and job creation.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the Steel Mahakumbh in Mumbai, highlighting India’s push toward green steel and sustainable industrial growth.
The event, organized by AIIFA and supported by the Ministry of Steel and UNDP, underscored the National Green Hydrogen Mission’s goals to produce 5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030, attract Rs 8 lakh crore in investments, and create 6 lakh jobs.
Maharashtra signed MoUs worth Rs 80,962 crore, expected to generate over 90,000 jobs, with plans to achieve 58% renewable energy by 2030 and develop Vidarbha as a steel hub.
The state is advancing green hydrogen projects, including pilot initiatives and a Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme, while expanding renewable energy and pumped storage capacity.
