The Election Commission of India has delisted 474 Registered Unrecognised Political Parties (RUPPs) for not contesting elections in the past six years, bringing the total removed to 808 in two months.
The action follows Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, which requires parties to participate in elections to retain registration.
The ECI also initiated proceedings against 359 more RUPPs for failing to submit audited accounts and election expenditure reports.
