GWM adds a turbo-diesel engine to the Tank 300, boosting towing to 3,000kg and targeting rivals like the Toyota Prado.
GWM has introduced a turbo-diesel engine to its Tank 300 off-road SUV, boosting its towing capacity to 3,000kg and positioning it as a competitor to vehicles like the Toyota Prado and Ford Everest. The 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel, already used in the Cannon and Cannon Alpha utes, is available in Lux and Ultra trims priced from $47,990 to $51,990 drive-away. The higher towing capacity places the Tank 300 Diesel in the "heavy off-road passenger vehicles" category under Australia’s upcoming emissions regulations, resulting in a higher CO2 target. The interior remains largely unchanged, featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment, and Nappa leather-trimmed seats on the top trim. GWM expects diesel variants to make up over half of Tank 300 sales.
