Glasgow and Leeds test fast lanes for pedestrians to ease congestion in busy city centers.
Glasgow and Leeds are testing pedestrian "fast lanes" on Buchanan Street and Briggate, respectively, to help quick walkers navigate crowded city centers.
The 50-meter-long, 2.2-meter-wide lanes feature clear markings and symbols and are part of a trial backed by Sky Broadband, coinciding with the launch of its Gigafast+ broadband service, the fastest available from any major UK provider.
The initiative follows research indicating 44% public support for such lanes, as well as findings that many people find slow walking, internet buffering, and delays frustrating.
