Canada investigates big banks' treatment of small businesses over loan access and fairness.
Canada's Competition Bureau has launched a market study to assess whether small and medium-sized businesses are being treated fairly by major banks, amid rising costs and trade tensions with the United States.
The study focuses on term loans and aims to identify barriers that may prevent smaller lenders from entering the market or limit access to affordable financing for small businesses, which make up 98% of Canadian businesses.
The bureau is inviting input from businesses through its website to inform its findings and recommendations.
