Azerbaijan celebrated National Music Day on September 18, marking the 140th anniversary of composer Uzeyir Hajibayli’s birth, the founder of Azerbaijani professional music and creator of the first Eastern opera. Azerbaijan marked National Music Day on September 18, honoring the 140th anniversary of composer Uzeyir Hajibayli’s birth, recognized as the founder of Azerbaijani professional music and creator of the first opera in the East. The day, established in 1995 by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, included ceremonies at the Alley of Honor where cultural figures paid respects to Hajibayli and Aliyev.
