St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Willson Contreras is out for the season with a mild shoulder strain, diagnosed after exiting a game against the Cincinnati Reds due to right biceps tightness. The 33-year-old, in his third season with the Cardinals, batted .257 with 20 home runs and a career-high 80 RBIs in 135 games, playing full-time at first base for the first time. The team recalled infielder Jose Fermin from Triple-A Memphis to fill the roster spot.
