Ontario funds $49K training for francophone shelter staff in mental health and healing.
The Ontario government has awarded $49,000 to Ellevive, a francophone women's shelter in Timmins, to train five staff members in mental health specialties including Indigenous healing, racialized women’s issues, non-violent crisis intervention, first aid, and mental health.
The training will include in-person, online, on-site, and travel components.
The funds are part of a $3 million provincial investment to support 71 francophone organizations, aiming to strengthen Franco-Ontarian culture and economic impact.
Trained staff will support women at the shelter and later train others in phase two.
