A 21-year-old man from Dubbo, New South Wales, was sentenced for driving his mother’s work car while drunk after an argument, taking it without permission. He turned himself in the same evening and pleaded guilty to low-range drink driving and unauthorized use of a vehicle. Currently under court supervision for prior offenses, he was given a 12-month community corrections order, fined $1,100, ordered to abstain from alcohol for four months, disqualified from driving for two months, and required to install an interlock device for one year upon reinstatement. The court acknowledged his efforts toward rehabilitation and encouraged him to pursue rehab.
