Vietnam seeks $2.7B–$6B yearly from non-budget sources for climate adaptation, aided by $5M World Bank payment in Sept. 2025.
Vietnam needs $55 billion to $92 billion for climate adaptation from 2021 to 2030, equivalent to 3% to 5% of its 2020 GDP, according to its updated national climate plan.
The state budget will cover only a small share, so the country plans to raise $2.7 billion to over $6 billion annually from non-budget sources.
Additionally, Vietnam will receive $5 million from the World Bank in September 2025 for transferring 1 million tonnes of CO2 reductions from its north-central region, supplementing $51.5 million already received for similar efforts.
Revenue from these projects will be distributed to local areas per government decree.
