Travis County raises property taxes 9.12% to recover from flood damage and fund infrastructure repairs.
Travis County is raising property taxes by 9.12%—an average increase of $200 per homeowner—to fund flood recovery and infrastructure repairs after July’s severe flooding damaged nearly 200 homes and depleted emergency reserves.
The $42.2 million in additional revenue will replenish lost funds, support overdue road repairs, and advance flood mitigation projects on Onion Creek.
The increase, approved without voter approval, will cap at 3.5% after the fiscal year, resulting in an estimated $128 annual cost increase due to rising property values.
Funds will also help prepare for future disasters.
