Thirty middle school students from 10 U.S. states and Puerto Rico have been named finalists in the Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge, a national STEM competition.
They will compete in Washington, D.C., for over $100,000 in awards, showcasing projects focused on natural resource stewardship, human health, artificial intelligence, and resilient technologies.
Selected from the Top 300, the finalists will be judged on research, communication, creativity, and collaboration during team challenges.
The competition, run by Society for Science and sponsored by Thermo Fisher Scientific, aims to inspire young innovators and expand access to STEM education through school programs and volunteer efforts.
Past winners have developed solutions like a thermal fire detector and a water filter from household waste.
