A 22-year-old Sri Lankan woman has been charged in Singapore under the Computer Misuse Act for allegedly aiding a scam involving fake bulk orders impersonating Singapore Armed Forces personnel.
She is the first of three suspects arrested in connection with at least five reported cases since September 4, resulting in losses of at least $32,000.
Police say the suspects, including a 16-year-old and a 31-year-old, were directed by a scam syndicate and used bank accounts and phone lines to facilitate fraud.
