A rare solid silver statue of Abraham Lincoln, created by Mount Rushmore sculptor John Gutzon de la Mothe Borglum, was stolen from Houmas House plantation in Louisiana in September 2025.
The statue, valued at approximately $46,000 to $166,000, was cut into pieces and sold to pawn shops and a precious metals exchange.
Three suspects—Steve Coronado, Alma Fontenot, and Bruce Shelvin—were arrested in connection with the theft, which involved breaking a window to gain entry.
The statue was recovered in pieces from Metairie, Louisiana, but cannot be restored.
