Ottawa aims to end youth homelessness by 2030 with new investments and initiatives.
Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe has committed to ending youth homelessness in the city by 2030, pledging new investments in the 2026 budget and launching initiatives like a race to end homelessness and a university hackathon to co-develop solutions.
The city has already invested $82 million in affordable housing since 2022 and aims to exceed $100 million by the end of the council term.
Last year’s budget included $30 million for social services addressing poverty’s root causes.
The mayor emphasized prevention and reducing reliance on shelters, with youth homelessness estimated at 50 to 100 individuals.
