Nissan cuts LEAF production over half due to battery supply delays, but launch remains on track.
Nissan has cut production of its new LEAF electric vehicle by more than half for the September–November period due to delays in battery procurement, primarily from lower yields at a Nissan-affiliated supplier.
The Tochigi plant in Japan, which produces the LEAF for the U.S. and Japanese markets, is affected, with several thousand fewer vehicles built monthly.
Despite the reduction, Nissan maintains the vehicle is on track for its planned end-of-year launch.
