MIIF gave $460K in full scholarships to 45 Ghanaian women from mining communities for STEM studies.
The Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) awarded full scholarships worth GH¢460,000 to 45 female students at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) in Ghana under its Women from Mining Communities (WomCoM) scholarship scheme.
Launched in June 2024, the initiative supports academically strong women from mining communities pursuing STEM and mining-related fields.
Of over 100 applicants, 45 were selected through a transparent process, with scholarships covering tuition, accommodation, and other academic costs.
MIIF plans to expand the program to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The effort is part of MIIF’s corporate social responsibility and has received backing from several banks and Procus Ghana Limited.
