Jammu and Kashmir's chief minister seeks relief aid after floods and landslides displaced over 1,000 people.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has urged the central government to provide a relief package for flood-affected areas, similar to those given to Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
He visited Kalaban village in Poonch district, where land subsidence from heavy rains damaged over 95 houses, a mosque, and a graveyard, displacing more than 1,000 people across 11 villages.
The state is offering rehabilitation assistance, including land allotment under existing policy, and has already provided financial aid and shelter.
The Vaishno Devi pilgrimage, suspended due to landslides, has resumed.
