Father of Air India crash pilot demands new probe, disputing claims his son turned off engines.
The father of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, one of the pilots in the June 12 Air India Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad that killed 260 people, is calling for a new government-led investigation.
Pushkaraj Sabharwal claims the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau’s preliminary findings, which noted both engines were switched off after takeoff, have unfairly damaged his son’s reputation.
He has requested a formal inquiry under Rule 12 of India’s aircraft accident rules, citing concerns over selective leaks and speculation about his son’s mental state.
The AAIB has stated it is too early to determine the crash’s cause, with a final report pending.
