China starts building an 800 kV power line from Xizang to Guangdong, boosting clean energy transmission by 2029.
China has begun building a 2,681-kilometer ultra-high voltage power transmission line from Xizang Autonomous Region to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with a 10 GW capacity and 43 billion kWh annual output.
The project, costing about 53.2 billion yuan ($7.5 billion), will use ±800 kV direct current technology, pass through four provinces, and become operational by 2029.
It aims to deliver clean energy, reduce carbon emissions, and support green growth.
Meanwhile, the Gansu-Zhejiang UHV line's Anhui section has entered conductor stringing, enhancing clean energy transmission from northwest to east China.
