Virginia approves Churchill Downs' Roseshire gambling venue in Henrico County, set to open Sept. 29.

The Virginia Racing Commission has approved a gambling license for Roseshire, a new gaming venue in Henrico County owned by Churchill Downs, set to open on September 29. Located at 4016 Glenside Drive, the $35 million facility will feature up to 175 historical horse racing terminals, live entertainment, food, beverages, and remote betting on live races. Despite opposition from community members and local leaders over concerns about traffic, crime, and lack of public input, the commission unanimously approved the application. The venue has already hired nearly 100 employees and is part of Churchill Downs' Rosie's Gaming Emporium chain.
