Twelve new officers, half female and 17% ethnic minority, join Avon and Somerset Police after training, aiming to reduce crime and build community trust.
Twelve new neighbourhood officers have joined Avon and Somerset Police through Police Now’s National Graduate Programme, with the cohort being 50% female and 17% from ethnic minority backgrounds.
They have completed the first phase of a two-year residential training programme and will gain frontline experience with response teams before focusing on neighbourhood policing.
Their role is to combat crime and anti-social behaviour while strengthening community trust.
Since the programme began, over 100 officers have been recruited to the force, with higher representation of women and ethnic minorities than in the overall police workforce.
