Qatar and Samsung C&T to build 2,000 MW solar plant, doubling solar output and cutting emissions.
QatarEnergy has partnered with Samsung C&T to build a 2,000 MW solar power plant in Dukhan, west of Doha, one of the world’s largest solar projects.
The facility will be developed in two phases, with the first 1,000 MW expected to begin supplying power to Qatar’s grid by late 2028, and full capacity targeted by mid-2029.
The project will double Qatar’s solar power production, reduce carbon emissions by about 4.7 million tons annually, and meet up to 30% of the country’s peak electricity demand.
It supports Qatar’s renewable energy goals under National Vision 2030.
