Miller their new captain, the 29th in franchise history.
The 32-year-old, acquired from Vancouver in January 2025, was praised for his leadership and on-ice performance, finishing last season with 70 points in 72 games and becoming the only NHL player with both 70 points and 160 hits.
Miller, originally drafted by the Rangers in 2011, has been instrumental in the team’s culture and will lead them into a new era under coach Mike Sullivan.
The Rangers open the season on October 7 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
