Nevada seeks $375M federal approval for broadband expansion to 50K underserved locations.
Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo announced the state's submission of its BEAD Final Proposal to the NTIA, seeking approval for a $375 million broadband expansion project.
The High Speed Nevada Initiative Phase III aims to bring reliable high-speed internet to nearly 50,000 unserved and underserved homes, businesses, and community institutions using a mix of fiber-optic, hybrid-fiber-coax, fixed wireless, and satellite technologies.
Funding includes $170 million from BEAD, $100 million from the State Fiscal Recovery Fund, $52 million from the Capital Projects Fund, and $53 million in private investment.
This initiative, combined with $275 million already committed to middle-mile projects, marks the largest public-sector broadband investment in Nevada’s history.
Construction is planned over four years, with final federal approval expected by year-end 2025.
