James William Woods Jr., a Newton County fugitive wanted for a parole violation stemming from an aggravated assault on a public servant, was captured in Jasper, Texas, after evading police twice during a September 3 pursuit involving a car and a four-wheeler.
He was apprehended at an apartment complex by a multi-agency task force including the U.S.
Marshals Service, Texas DPS, Jasper Police, and Newton County Sheriff’s Office.
Woods, who was initially stopped for a traffic violation, was later found combative and taken into custody without further incident.
He is now held at the Jasper County Jail.
