Bangladesh approves LNG and fertilizer imports from Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Canada to meet demand.
Bangladesh's interim government has approved importing one LNG cargo from Saudi Arabia and 75,000 metric tons of fertilizer from Russia and Canada to meet rising demand.
The LNG, costing Taka 499.16 crore, is set for delivery in late November 2025.
Fertilizer imports, totaling Taka 331.93 crore, include a new government-to-government deal with Fertiglobe Distribution Limited in the UAE for urea.
Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed emphasized diversifying LNG sources to reduce dependency and stabilize trade, while also highlighting ongoing efforts to support job creation and improve revenue collection amid economic challenges.
