Azerbaijan's president honored ICESCO's head with its top award in Shusha, recognizing his role in boosting ties with the Islamic world.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev awarded Salim bin Mohammed AlMalik, Director-General of ICESCO, the country's highest honor, the "Dostlug" Order, for his role in strengthening cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
The ceremony took place in Shusha, which ICESCO designated as the Capital of Islamic Culture.
Aliyev praised ICESCO’s support of Azerbaijani culture and expressed confidence in expanding their partnership.
ICESCO, based in Rabat, Morocco, is an intergovernmental organization with 54 member states focused on advancing education, science, cultural heritage, and sustainable development within the Islamic world.
