flag AIMS Mohali becomes first Punjab government medical college to earn national breastfeeding-friendly hospital status.

Dr BR Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) in Mohali has become the first and only government medical college in India to earn breastfeeding-friendly hospital accreditation under the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), following Command Hospital Pune. Accredited by the Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India (BPNI), AIMS Mohali is among 71 nationwide facilities, nearly half of which are Armed Forces hospitals. The recognition reflects adherence to the WHO’s Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding and highlights leadership from Director Principal Prof (Dr) Bhavneet Bharti, who also established Punjab’s first Human Milk Bank. The achievement underscores AIMS Mohali’s commitment to maternal and child health standards.
