Swiss-Swedish firm ABB has won a contract from South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean to supply an integrated electrical and propulsion system for Singapore’s first floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal.
The 200,000 m³ Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), to be delivered to Mitsui O.S.K.
Lines (MOL) in 2027, will connect to Singapore’s gas network by 2030.
Equipped with ABB’s generators, switchboards, motors, transformers, and remote monitoring systems, the FSRU will boost the nation’s LNG import capacity by 50% and support Singapore’s net-zero emissions goals.
Singapore LNG Corporation (SLNG) will operate the facility under a long-term charter.
