Romania's energy and industrial production decline amid fiscal deficits topping the region.

Romania's energy output fell by 4% year-over-year in January-July 2025, mainly due to reduced hydro and wind power generation. Industrial production also dropped by 1.3%. Romania and Poland face the highest fiscal deficits in the region, estimated at 7-8% of GDP for 2025. Meanwhile, Babeș-Bolyai University established an endowment fund for academic excellence, and GoCab Software began insolvency proceedings due to financial difficulties.
