Former Apple exec donates $50M to UMass Amherst for engineering college initiatives.

Dan Riccio, a former Apple executive and UMass Amherst alumnus, has donated $50 million to the university, marking the largest gift in its history. The donation will support scholarships, faculty recruitment, and research initiatives in the renamed Daniel J. Riccio Jr. College of Engineering. Of the total, $40 million will create an endowment for scholarships, fellowships, and professorships, while $10 million will establish a catalyst fund for high-priority projects. UMass will also contribute $25 million in matching funds.
