The Rees Hotel in Queenstown, New Zealand, was fined $22,000 for illegally selling crayfish caught recreationally. The hotel offered a "heli-crayfish experience" where guests paid up to $7,750 to watch crayfish being caught and then enjoyed a crayfish meal. Despite being warned it was illegal, the hotel organized at least six such trips. Contrary to their claims, the hotel paid divers to catch the crayfish and served it to guests.
