Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas ends six-month emergency rule in Rivers State after credible elections.
Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, appointed to stabilize Rivers State under a six-month emergency rule declared by President Bola Tinubu in March, has announced that he has fulfilled his mandate.
Ibas stated this following successful local government elections and the swearing-in of elected officials across all 23 local government areas.
The elections were described as fair and credible by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).
The emergency rule, imposed due to political instability, is set to end on September 18.
