Construction starts on Ireland's biggest biomethane plant, converting farm waste to heat over 38,000 homes.
Construction has begun on Ireland's largest biomethane plant near Ballinrobe, County Mayo, set to process 90,000 tons of farm waste annually and generate over 85 gigawatt-hours of renewable gas.
Flogas will take all the renewable gas from Nephin Energy’s three planned anaerobic digestion plants, totaling over 250 gigawatt-hours annually, enough to heat over 38,000 homes.
The project, valued at €50 million and due to open in 2027, supports Ireland's goal to produce 5.7 terawatt-hours of biomethane by 2030.
