A Wisconsin man, Ankurkumar Patel, has been indicted for allegedly laundering over $1 million from elderly victims in a "Phantom Hacker Scam" across multiple states. The scam tricks victims into believing their identity or bank accounts are compromised, then transfers their funds to anonymous accounts. Patel could face up to 20 years in prison for conspiracy and up to 10 years for substantive money laundering if convicted.
