A thunderstorm on September 3, 2025, snapped a 132kV transmission line near Tower 97 in Nigeria, causing a fire that destroyed a house and car and killed two cows. Despite the damage, there was no loss of power to the Nsukka area. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is working to repair the line and warns against building or parking under transmission lines due to safety risks.
