A CHP officer was seriously injured when hit by a Tesla while directing traffic on I-280.

A California Highway Patrol officer was seriously injured but not in danger of life when a 2026 Tesla Model Y struck him while he was directing traffic on southbound Interstate 280 near Alpine Road to clear an electric leaf blower. Three southbound lanes were closed for hours, causing major delays. The Tesla driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The officer was taken to Stanford Hospital.
