India's coal imports fell by 16.4% in July to 21.08 million tonnes, down from 25.23 million tonnes last July, due to low demand during the monsoon season and ample stock.
The April-July period also saw a drop from 100.48 million tonnes to 97.49 million tonnes.
Despite the decline, Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy assured there will be no coal shortage, as the government is prepared to meet all demands.
