The Chengdu International Railway Port in Southwest China is significantly boosting the import of Southeast Asian fruits, especially durians, via the China-Laos Railway, reducing transit time by about 70% and cutting costs by 50% compared to air freight.
Since early 2025, 175 shipments of durians have arrived, with plans to import 8,000 tonnes annually, valued at over 200 million yuan ($28 million).
The port also manages various high-quality goods and is part of an extensive supply chain connecting 126 overseas cities.
