Proton, Malaysia's national carmaker, has launched its first electric vehicle (EV) plant in Tanjung Malim, capable of producing up to 20,000 cars annually, with potential to scale up to 45,000 units. The plant, a joint venture between Malaysian conglomerate DRB HICOM and Chinese firm Zhejiang Geely, will initially manufacture the Proton e.MAS 7 and e.MAS 5 models. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim highlighted the collaboration between Malaysia and China, encouraging further international investments and Proton's global expansion.
